Aurora Alderman announces scholarship opportunities

Scholarship opportunities are available to Aurora college students by 2nd Ward Aurora Alderman Juany Garza.

Garza will award a $2,500 scholarship to one male and one female college student who live in the Second Ward.

To be eligible for the Ward 2 scholarship, applicants must be college students who have completed at least one year of their college studies, be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the 2021-2022 academic year; and have proof of community service in Aurora.

Applicants also must be legal residents or U.S. citizens and reside in the Second Ward. Proof of a 3.0 or better grade average (out of 4.0) is a requirement.

To apply for the Ward 2 scholarship, send name, address, telephone number and email address, a copy of the college transcript, proof of enrollment in a two- or four-year college or university for the 2021-2022 academic year; proof of US citizenship or legal residency; a brief biography and photo; and a letter from the benefitting organization acknowledging involvement in community service activities.

In addition, Alderman Garza will be offering a limited number of scholarships to Aurora students who live outside Ward 2. To be eligible for the scholarships, applicants must be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university for the 2021-2022 academic year. Applicants also must live in Aurora, Illinois. Proof of a 3.0 or better grade average (out of 4.0) is a requirement. Past community service will also be considered.
