Preference will be given to students who plan to enroll full-time; who plan to pursue fields of study related to English, healthcare, business, or public service; who are first-generation college students; or who have financial need. This scholarship was established by Dr. Anthony Ramos in memory of his uncle, Rodolfo E. Tapalla. Mr. Tapalla majored in English from the University of St. La Salle in the Philippines in 1964 and later immigrated to the U.S. in 1971. Settling in the Chicagoland area, he served in various community organizations, particularly with the Filipino American community, as well as local civic and service groups. Professionally, he worked in the insurance industry and other entrepreneurial pursuits. Referred to as “Tito Rudy” to many nieces and nephews, he supported the educational journeys of members of his extended family abroad, instilling a deep value for the transformative power of education. This scholarship is a refundable credit award. It will first be used toward past due tuition. Any remaining funds will be available for fall semester tuition, fees, or books or a refund may be requested from the Student Accounts and Cashier Office.
