Mary Nisbet Clark Scholarship

The Mary Nisbet Clark Scholarship is open to students majoring in STEM fields who have at least a 2.5 GPA; preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need; involvement in extracurricular activities will be considered. Born in Prestonpans, Scotland in 1934, Mary Nisbet Clark (born Mary Nisbet Paton) would later move to the United States to marry George W. Clark and, over the course of the next several decades, raise four children. Besides being an amazing wife and mother, Mrs. Clark was a registered nurse in pediatrics at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee, Illinois for 35 years. During her years at Riverside, Mrs. Clark was a devoted nurse who loved the children she cared for on the pediatric unit. She was also known as the IV queen at Riverside due to her ability to start IVs on just about any patient. In her honor, her son, Gary Clark, professor of English at Waubonsee Community College, has established the Mary Nisbet Clark Scholarship for student majoring in STEM related fields. The scholarship may cover all or part of tuition and required course fees and may also provide support for required books for credit courses.
