Dr. Christine J. Sobek Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. Christine J. Sobek Endowed Scholarship is open to returning students who have at least 2.5 cumulative GPA. The purpose of this scholarship opportunity is to encourage students to explore leadership opportunities as part of their experiences at Waubonsee. The Dr. Christine J. Sobek Endowed Scholarship was established in 2022 in recognition of Dr. Sobek’s 21 years of distinguished service, commitment, leadership, and contributions as President of the college upon her retirement. Dr. Sobek began her tenure as President on July 1, 2001. Under her leadership, the college served 189,429 students earning 2,829,005 credit hours. Through her vision and steadfast leadership, the college grew in stature locally and regionally across four permanent campuses located in the 624-square-mile college district. In recognition of Dr. Sobek’s profound impact on Waubonsee Community College, the Waubonsee Community College Foundation Board of Directors established this endowed scholarship fund in her honor. The scholarship may cover all or part of tuition and required course fees and may also provide support for required books for credit courses.
