Mi Camino Scholarship

The Mi Camino Scholarship is open Latina students from East Aurora High School who have an interest in studying law (e.g., attending law school). Applicants must demonstrate interest in the area of the law through: (1) Community service or (2) extracurricular involvement / leadership roles. The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to Latina students at Waubonsee Community College who are interested in pursuing a career in law. This scholarship was established by Fatima Garcia, Esq., a resident of Aurora and graduate of East Aurora High School. As a first-generation Latina attorney, Ms. Garcia is committed to advocating for aspiring Latina students by eliminating the financial barriers Latina students face when pursuing a legal career and, to increasing the number of Latina attorneys in the legal profession. The scholarship may cover all or part of tuition and required course fees and may also provide support for required books for credit courses.
